inThree Qingbai porcelain water droppers, Song Dynasty. Estimate £2,500 – 4,000 (€3,100 – 5,000). Photo Bonhams.
One of faceted form with carved flowerspray terminal; one of rounded oval form, the stippled body carved with scattered flowerheads; and the third with two tiers of moulded overlapping petals, with leafy stem finial; and a fruit form box and cover of lobed melon form, all covered in a fine translucent pale bluish glaze. The largest 6cm (2.3/8in) high.
Notes: These small Qingbai water droppers were made for use on the scholar’s table to add drops of water to freshly ground ink. They exemplify the Song literati’s taste for simple forms with incised or moulded decoration.

Three Qingbai miniature vessels, Song-Yuan Dynasty. Estimate £1,000 – 1,500 (€1,300 – 1,900). Photo Bonhams.
Comprising: a small globular jar standing on a tall foot, covered overall in a delicate, glassy and lightly crackled Qingbai glaze stopping short of the foot, the recessed cover with an applied finial in the shape of a leafy blossom, Song Dynasty; and a pair of miniature vases with trumpet necks and splayed foot, decorated with carved vertical ribs to the body and horizontal ribs to the neck, Yuan Dynasty. The jar 6.5cm (2 1/5in) high, the vases 7.2cm (2 7/8in) high (4).

ewer and cover, globular ewer, Qingbai, Song dynasty, Song-Yuan dynasty
A Qingbai ewer and cover, Song Dynasty. Estimate £1,200 – 1,500 (€1,500 – 1,900). Photo Bonhams.
The oviform body with slender flaring neck rising to an everted rim, with elegant tapering spout and looped strap handle, the shoulder with twin lug handles, the finial in the form of a small gnarled stem, the glaze suffused with a creamy crackle, fitted box, 13.6cm (5.3/8in) high; a small ewer and cover moulded with a scrolling foliate design beneath a band of petals encircling the shoulder, 7cm (2.3/4in) high; and a small globular ewer with short spout and four lug handles applied to the shoulder, covered in a grey blue glaze, Song-Yuan Dynasty, 8cm (3.1/8in) high.

A Qingbai petal lobed bowl, Southern Song Dynasty. Estimate £5,000 – 8,000 (€6,300 – 10,000). Photo Bonhams.
Finely potted with flaring sides rising from a cylindrical foot, the rim notched to form six lobes, the interior carved with scrolling leafy flowering stems on a finely patterned ground, the glaze of good pale blue tone pooling to a darker colour in the recesses, the base unglazed and partly burnt from the firing, fitted box. 19cm (7.1/2in) diam.

The finely potted vessel set on a short cylindrical foot, the body with seven lobes beneath four applied horizontal tubular lug handles at the shoulder, the neck with a double incised band, the cover with a slightly raised central roundel, the glaze pooling to a deep blue at the shoulder and around the handles, fitted box. 10.2cm (4in) high.

The cylindrical body rising from a convex, unglazed base, to a boldly flaring mouth, covered overall in a lustrous, glassy, clear whitish-blue glaze stopping short of the foot. 7.8cm (3 1/8in) diam.
