The open work carving with dragons on top and a dog below, around a center circle. 2″h. On a string with pearl bead.

Eight Buddhist patterns surround the cup with ocean waves on the base up through the cup background. A carved seal reads « Qiang Long Nian Zhi » on base. 4″h.

The transparent glass vase is of a brownish-green tone. 7 7/8 in. (20 cm.) high

A ruby-red overlay white glass ‘Altair and Vega’ bottle vase, Qing dynasty, 18th-18th century. Estimate 40,000 — 60,000 HKD. Photo Sotheby’s

of globular form supported on a straight foot, sweeping up to a tubular neck and flanged rim, the opaque white body overlaid with a layer of bright translucent red glass, carved to one side with Vega depicted as a flying apsara and to the other side with Altair as a cowherd riding a buffalo, all amidst branches of flowering crab apple and prunus; 22.5 cm., 8 3/4  in.

Provenance: The Henrich Collection.
Collection of Professor P.H. and Mrs. T. Plesch.
Sotheby’s London, 12th November 1979, lot 10.

Note: A pair of vases of similar form, overlaid in green against an opaque white ground with a flowering prunus, from the Toms collection, was sold in our London rooms, 7th / 9th June 1995, lot 20.

of baluster form rising from a recessed base and flared foot to a waisted neck and everted rim, the opaque milky white glass body overlaid with a layer of bright translucent blue glass, carved through the ground in varied reliefs with two large peony blossoms borne on a continuous meandering foliate stem, between plain blue overlay bands encircling the foot and rim; 20.6 cm., 8 1/8  in.

of globular form supported on three short baluster feet, set with two rounded square handles, the opaque white glass body overlaid with a layer of bright translucent blue glass, carved through the ground with branches of camellia, hibiscus, lotus and prunus issuing from rocky shores and a wavy sea, below a scroll band of six bats fluttering among clouds, the sides set with two animal-mask handles suspending mock rings; overall width 11.3 cm., 4 1/2  in.

A  sapphire-blue overlay white glass ‘Vine’ bottle vase, Qing dynasty, 18th century. Estimate 50,000 — 70,000 HKD. Photo Sotheby’s

formed from a solid block of opaque milky white glass overlaid with a layer of bright translucent blue glass, carved through to the ground with four panels containing leafy vines and curling tendrils, the neck similarly decorated with foliate double gourds; 23.8 cm., 9 3/8  in.
