The lower globular section of the body boldly painted in underglaze blue with a lotus meander above a stylised lotus leaf lappet border encircling the foot, the bulging top half painted with floral sprays below a lappet border at the narrow, subtly lipped mouth, the waist divided with a band of lappets and classic scroll motifs, all on a rich iron-red enamel ground, the base unglazed. 36cm (14 1/8in) high
