each overlaid on the opaque white ground with a layer of bright translucent blue glass, the first carved with two sprays of foliate peony sprouting from jagged rocks, the second decorated with bamboo, prunus and pine, the ‘Three Friends of Winter’, around the spherical body and a lotus scroll on the tubular neck between stiff leaves encircling the shoulder and rim, the latter inscribed on the base with a four-character wheel-cut apocryphal Qianlong mark; 20.6 and 22 cm., 8 1/8 and 8 5/8 in.
