Enameled after the well-known design of Dutch artist Cornelius Pronk within an elaborately enameled border of fish and bird cartouches; 9 ¾ in. (24.8 cm.) diameter

Provenance: Acquired from J. Cherny in 1975.

Note: One of the Dutch painter Cornelius Pronk’s four official commissions for the Dutch East India Co. the original watercolor design survives in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. While the experiment in commissioned designs was shortly discontinued, dinner sets, tea pieces and large jars and covers were made in « The Doctors ». See C.J.A. Jörg, Porcelain and the Dutch China Trade, pp. 99-101, and Howard & Ayers, op. cit., pp. 193-194.

Decorated after the Dutch artist Cornelius Pronk’s design with the classic topiary garden scene; 6 1/8 in. (15.5 cm.) diameter

Provenance: Acquired from J. Cherny in 1975.

Note: C. Jorg has determined that this was the fourth and last certain design by Cornelius Pronk for the VOC (Pronk Porcelain, pp 34-35).
