The  Bodhisattva of Mercy seated on a rocky plinth dressed in a hooded shawl, with one leg pendant and resting on a mythical beast, the left arm cradling a ruyi sceptre, three scrolls raised to one side. 26cm (10 1/4in) high

The emaciated figure, probably depicting Asita, seated on a rocky plinth with his hands resting on a raised knee, the smiling face flanked with elongated earlobes, crowned with hair ringlets and a raised urna. 23.8cm (9 3/8in) high

The Bodhisattva modelled as the ‘Guanyin of the South Sea’ standing in contraposto atop a crustacean, clad in flowing robes, the left arm cradling a ruyi sceptre, the serene face crowned with long hair falling to the shoulders in tresses. 24.8cm (9 3/4in) high

The standing figure expertly modelled with long robes, the serene face with a small raised urna and flanked with elongated ears, the head covered with typical tight coils of hair, the right hand in bhumisparsa mudra, all raised on a lotus plinth. 42cm (16 1/2in) high

Notes: For comparable figures of a standing Buddha see Marchant, Blanc de Chine, 2006, no. 4, p. 14; and Marchant, Blanc-de-Chine, 2014, no. 7, p. 20; another, with the mark Zhang Shoushan, now in the British Museum, is illustrated in M. Medley, The World’s Great Collections Vol. 6 The Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art, London, 1982, no. 205, collection no. 414.
For another comparable example sold at auction see Christie’s London, 03/11/09, no. 306, p. 194.

The four-character seal mark Hui Jian shan ren ‘The Hermit Hui Jiang’ is recorded by P. J. Donnelly, Blanc-de-Chine, London 1969 under Potter’s Marks, Fancy Names, F8.b, p. 359. where he illustrates a Guanyin with the same mark.

The openwork cartouche set with a central natural pearl, old brilliant and rose-cut diamonds and cushion-shaped rubies, within a scalloped frame of black enamel and engraved decoration, suspending a swag of similarly cut rubies and diamonds, terminating in a graduating fringe of drop-shaped natural pearls, mounted in yellow gold, diamonds approximately 1.40 carats total, length 6.5cm

Accompanied by a report from Laboratoire Française de Gemmologie stating that the six pearls are natural. Report number 196437, dated 30 November 2011.

Each terminal designed as a pair of opposing swans, pavé-set with single-cut diamonds and calibré-cut onyx highlights, with a natural pearl and two baguette-cut diamonds between their curving necks, signed Janesich, diamonds approximately 2.30 carats total, one onyx deficient, length 9.8cm

Accompanied by a report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating that the pearls are natural. Report number 0128492, dated 1 July 2008.

The drop-shaped natural pearl measuring 10.1 x 10.3 x 15.0mm, with rose-cut diamond cap, suspended from a pendant of geometric and scrolling design, pierced and set throughout with old brilliant and single-cut diamonds, with a central marquise-cut diamond within a single-cut diamond border, suspended from a fine adjustable chain, mounted in platinum, principal diamond approximately 1.10 carats, remaining diamonds approximately 1.75 carats total, pendant length 4.8cm

Accompanied by a report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating that the pearl is natural, saltwater. Report number 09240, dated 14 January 2014.

A pair of 19th century natural pearl and diamond pendent earrings. Sold for £98,500 (€131,140). Photo Bonhams.

Each scrolling surmount set with old brilliant, single and rose-cut diamonds, suspending a drop-shaped natural pearl, measuring approximately 10.35 x 10.50 x 15.20mm and 10.40 x 10.45 x 15.20mm respectively, with rose-cut diamond cap, mounted in silver and gold, diamonds approximately 1.80 carats total, later post fittings, length 3.2cm

Accompanied by a report from SSEF stating that both pearls were found to be natural, saltwater. Report number 72824, dated 3 March 2014.

A blue and white ‘lotus’ bowl, Yongzheng six-character mark and possibly of the period. Estimate £800 – 1,200 (€1,100 – 1,600). Photo Bonhams.

The bowl gently curving up from the short foot rim to a straight mouth rim, the exterior painted in vivid cobalt blue with a dense ‘Indian’ lotus flower meander above a stylised lotus lappet band encircling the foot. 12.1cm (4 3/4in) diam.
