Black ware tea bowl with ‘tortoiseshell’ glazes, 2nd half of the 12th century – 1st half of the 13th century, Song Dynasty (AD 960 – 1279). Jizhou kilns, stoneware, thrown, with papercut decoration in reserve against brown and yellow iron glazes; unglazed base; glazed rim; 5.8 cm (height), 10 cm (diameter), at base 4.1 cm (diameter). Bequeathed by Professor A.
