An extremely rare and finely potted Yaozhou meiping vase incised with coins-pattern, Song dynasty. Photo Paragon International Auctioneers

H: 16 cm. The vase is finely potted with a slender body rising from the countersunk base to rounded shoulders, surmounted by a short restrained neck tapering to a trapezoidal mouth; it is decorated with two bands of money coin patterns separated by a double bowstring patterns in between, and under a band of banana leaf patterns on the shoulders and a band of upright diamond shaped banana leaf patterns on the lower part of the body. A meiping with money coin decoration is very rare; similar decoration can also see on a Yaozhou ware ewer which is collected in Beijing Palace Museum.
