Centering one emerald-cut emerald approximately 13.04 cts., flanked by 2 bullet-shaped diamonds approximately .50 ct., circa 1930. Size 4 1/2. Emerald: deep vivid rich green, good color concentration, moderately included, slightly visible to eye, lively. AGL dated August 20, 1997. Diamonds: I-J-VS. Good condition.
With AGL report no. CS 31047 stating that the emerald is of Colombian origin, moderate evidence of clarity enhancement present (Oil Type).
Maurine Dallas Watkins, a reporter in Chicago for high profile criminal cases, achieved world recognition with her stage adaptation of Chicago, which evolved from a class assignment for her Yale University playwriting workshop. Chicago opened on Broadway on December 30, 1926. Besides writing plays, Ms. Watkins was also a successful screenwriter in the 30’s and 40’s.
